Important Notes

Japanese citizens can travel to France and other Schengen Area countries for tourism, business, or short visits for up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa. This period starts from the first day of entry into the Schengen Area. For stays longer than 90 days, a long-stay visa is required. Starting in mid-2025, Japanese citizens will need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) authorization before traveling to the Schengen Area, which is not a visa but a pre-travel authorization.
