Requirements

• 1.Valid Afghan passport (valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the United States)
• 2.Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160 confirmation page
• 3.Application fee payment receipt
• 4.One (1) 2x2 inch (5x5 cm) color photograph taken within the last six months (meeting specific requirements)
• 5.Interview at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate (currently conducted in third countries due to lack of U.S. diplomatic presence in Afghanistan)
• 6.Proof of strong ties to Afghanistan (e.g., property deeds, family, employment, financial assets) to demonstrate intent to return
• 7.Proof of sufficient funds to cover expenses during the stay in the U.S.
• 8.Travel itinerary and purpose of travel (e.g., invitation letters, conference registration, medical appointments)
• 9.For students: Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status)
• 10.For exchange visitors: Form DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status)
