Important Notes

German citizens are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and must obtain an approved ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) prior to boarding a carrier to the United States. An ESTA approval is typically valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first, and allows for multiple entries. Each stay under the VWP cannot exceed 90 days. Travelers who have been present in certain countries or are dual nationals of certain countries may not be eligible for ESTA and might need to apply for a traditional visa. It is recommended to apply for ESTA at least 72 hours before travel.
