Important Notes

Afghan passport holders require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to enter Canada. Due to the current situation in Afghanistan, processing times can be significantly longer and approval is not guaranteed. Applicants must demonstrate strong ties to their home country and sufficient funds. The visa fee is 100 CAD (approximately 75 USD) plus a biometrics fee of 85 CAD (approximately 63 USD). Processing times vary greatly and can be very long, often several months to over a year, with no standard duration specified by IRCC for Afghanistan. The validity of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration officer, typically up to the passport's expiry date or a shorter period based on the purpose of travel. A medical exam may be required depending on the length of stay or if requested by IRCC. It is highly recommended to apply well in advance and provide comprehensive documentation.
